Huawei Mate 9: manufacturer is already testing Android O update
In the late
summer, Android O will appear and owners of the Huawei Mate 9 may then look
forward to a quick update. According to media reports, the Chinese manufacturer
internally is already testing the update.
Huawei was
so far considered to be slow when it came to updating his smartphones to a new
Android version. This has changed in 2017. The Huawei P9 was among the first
non-Google smartphones that have received an update on Android 7.0 nougat and
apparently, Huawei also gives in to Android O gas.
Although
the next version of Google's mobile OS does not appear before the late summer.
However, Huawei is already testing the first developer version of Android O
internally on the Mate 9, which is reported by the developer forum XDA
Developer and refers to a reader who wants to get a corresponding firmware. He's
proof of his statement with photos, which show, among other things, the new
Picture-in-Picture feature of Android O.
Of course,
Huawei does not rely on a pure Android O; the Google OS is on the Mate 9 continuing
with the manufacturer's own user interface EMUI overprinted. This should also
be the reason why Huawei starts so early with the development. The new user
interface is to be adapted as quickly as possible to the new Android and
benefit from these advantages.
Whether
this process will be completed by the release of Android O in the late summer
remains to be seen. Huawei fans can hope however on a fast Android O-update. In
addition to the Huawei Mate 9, Huawei smartphones will also be updated to the
new version. Which? This tells you our Android O update schedule.
